Jet Boat Rides with Jet Thrills

Safety comes first. We have four Maritime Safety Authority approved drivers who will truly amaze you with the skill they have coupled with the manovability of the jet boat. You don't learn to drive a jet boat overnight that is why all our drivers have been involved with jet boating for many years.
(Company owner and Director) Paul began Jet boating about 28 years ago nearly all that time on the lower Waimakariri. Starting a tour business has always been something he wanted to do. “ I thought the boating would be the fun part, but 7 years down the track and you find it is just meeting all the different people and hearing their story is the fascinating part." "I enjoy the Blast Plus the most as we stop for a cuppa and a yarn and generally try and share what we know about New Zealand to others”. “I haven’t travelled much out of NZ but often people say” “why go overseas when you have it all here?” When I need a day off I tend to go Jet boating usually with the kids on a family competition day that is run by the local jet boat club. “Good to force you away from the mainstream and use the boat in a different way” “Keeps me fresh!”

Joined the company in 2002 after a few years rest from commercial driving. Began Jet boating in 1977 and has owned and built about 22 boats in that time. Paul has also boated in USA and Canada and most of the rivers in New Zealand. Pauls other job is a dream one, South Island Editor of the very sucessful Trader boat magazine. In this he gets to test heaps of brand new boats and write nice things about them! We are fortunate to have someone like Paul on the team. Paul Smith - Jetthrills
After starting out with his brother in law up in the Waimakariri Gorge at the Waimak Gorge Jets operation. Graeme decided to shift back to Christchurch and has been with us for 2 years. His sense of humour is a real asset even when its raining. For leisure Graeme manufactures scale replica traction engines and radio controlled Jet boats! Graeme Chisnall - Jetthrills
Joined in 2000 and still going strong . But Steve is on leave for a year to go back to Canada again for a while. We will have to retrain him how to speak the Queens English upon his return! Steve enjoys his boating and mixing with the many overseas visitors we have. He hopes to do a fair amount of boating while in Canada as well.
Andy Thornton - Andy is an aircraft engineer by trade but a Jet boat driver by choice. He is also very handy with welders and hammers and the suchlike. Andy has been with us since 2005 and really enjoys the lower Waimakariri for its challenging boating. We are lucky to have someone of Andy’s calibre on the team and his passengers always come off the river with a smile on the dial.
